His early `90s buick pulls up to my house,
the gray-blue exterior gleaming.
A smile consumes my face,
& the muscles in my cheeks begin to tighten.
This boy doesn't pulls at my heart strings,
he rips them apart.
He tells me he loves me ; & i believe him.
His floppy black hair falls in my face,
i welcome its scent.
His arms holds me tight,
nothing moves when he is near,
the world stops cold.
Everything matters , Nothing matters.
The buttons on his jacket reflect the sun.
& the light from his eyes feels warm.
but thr is sweat on his palm.
He is scared to leave ; scared to move on.
im scared of the chilled dark air.
I sit & count the days before he is gone.
